Knightsbridge Mews

Norton Ellis Architects have recently completed this project. Transforming a 1960’s mews house into a stylish modern home.

The ground floor has a large open plan living dining area, with a study to one side and a galley kitchen at the rear. A new sweeping staircase and gantry wrap around the double height space up to the bedrooms. The balustrades are made of laser cut steel work and are set away from the walls to create the illusion of a floating stairs and a feeling of lightness. The steel handrail is wrapped in pale padded leather, a warm material to contrast with the cool metalwork.

A second more discrete stairs then leads up to the second floor extension, which provides a family room with a large roof light overhead. This room leads out to a roof terrace. There is also a shower room and utility room on this floor so it can become a self contained floor for guests if required.
